This website is for local optometrists and dispensing opticians, providing information, guidance and resources in order that we can continue to deliver high quality eyecare to all. We also provide information to members of the public in the county of Herefordshire regarding the nature of eye care services available to them and where to access
them.
About Us
Who We Are
Herefordshire Local Optical Committee (LOC) represents local primary care optical professionals, both optometrists and dispensing opticians, within the county. As a statutory body we collaborate with local optical practices, practitioners, ophthalmologists, Hereford County Hospital and the ICB (Integrated Care Board) to maintain and develop eye care services in Herefordshire.
Our role is to support the delivery of high quality eye care services across Herefordshire by:

Advocate for the interests of optical professionals in NHS local primary care planning.

Facilitating communication between practitioners, NHS regulatory bodies and other stakeholders.

Supporting the development and implementation of enhanced eye care services and referral pathways in Herefordshire.

Supporting Continued Professional Development (CPD) through training events and regular service provision updates.

Providing resources and guidance to help local optical practitioners deliver the best eye care to their patients.
